“Unpacking the Architecture of Bacterial Lipoprotein Transport”

Abstract: In Gram-negative bacteria, Type VII ABC transporters carry out a broad range of vital cellular functions. The archetypal member, MacB forms a tripartite complex in concert with MacA and TolC to export macrolide antibiotics, while LolCDE plays a central role in the transport of lipoproteins.

Correct localization of outer membrane lipoproteins is essential for bacterial survival as they perform a variety of critical roles related to cell structure, function, and antibiotic resistance. The seminar will cover the structural aspects of their transport.

Invited by A. Latifi (LCB)
