The European Research Council (ERC ) has announced the results of the first wave of the Proof of Concept 2025 call for proposals. This grant, designed to support the valorization of research, is aimed exclusively at scientists who have already received ERC funding. CNRS is one of the main host institutions, with six projects selected.
In Provence, Hugo Bisio Sabaris, a CNRS researcher at the Laboratoire Information Génomique et Structurale (Genomic and Structural Information Laboratory), won this award for his PSDisrupt project: “AI-driven discovery of broad-spectrum antivirals targeting Nucleocytoviricota factories via phase separation modulation”.
Hugo Bisio Sabaris develops innovative approaches to understanding and countering giant viruses. His PSDisrupt project uses artificial intelligence to design new antivirals targeting viral factories – organelles essential to the replication of Nucleocytoviricota viruses (which include monkeypox and African swine fever viruses).
Based on conserved scaffolding proteins, the project aims to develop broad-spectrum inhibitors, with a view to preclinical validation and extensive biomedical applications.
